Grounded in Grain
Grounded in Grain presents a series of landscape works that examine materiality and ecological resilience. Rendered in charcoal and chalk pastel on birch ply, this series was inspired by the recurring cycles of fire that shape the Cape’s fynbos ecology using byproducts of the destruction to showcase landscapes in a more generative part of the cycle.
The use of birch ply enhances the movement of each piece while exposing its unique fingerprint and grounding the work in the raw and exposed elements of nature.
